While thumbing through some old files from college I found a few write ups I had gotten for breaking the code of conduct. My school was pretty strict in those days. I knew no better being that I grew up in that kind of environment. Needless, it was a great experience! The one above I got for being late to curfew. It didn’t hit me until a few days after I found it that this was the day my would-be-wife and I got back together after being broken up for a few months. We had a few things to discuss:)
I remember losing a friend because I’d forgotten that I’d told him I would go on a run with him. Instead I chose to spend that time with her seeing that she requested we take a walk to talk about a few things. Ummm… yes please. To this day I’m sorry for breaking that commitment although it showed me a couple of things:
- You can’t control someone’s response.
- You can’t have it all.
- Saying YES to one thing is saying NO to something else. There is no two way around it.
I remember actually losing a few friends because of the decision I made to get back together with her. Apperantly she had other suiters. That loss and a $15 fine was a small price to pay for the girl of my dreams and the mother of my children.
I’d do it again.
