C.S. Lewis on the Interstellar and Redemption

I’m reading The Business of Heaven by CS Lewis and read an excerpt called Life on Other Planets. Below I have adapted his thoughts in modernized American English.

“If there are other rational species other than life on earth, are they fallen and sinful like us?

This is a point easily forgotten.

Some think that the incarnation (God coming in the flesh for the purpose of salvation) implies a certain merit or excellence in humanity. This, of course, implies just the reverse: a particular demerit and depravity.

No creature that deserved Redemption would need to be redeemed. They that are well don’t need medical attention. Christ died for humanity not because men are worthy dying for, but to make them worth it.”
