“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13, NIV).
Adapted from Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening, February 11:
A Christian should be a striking likeness of Jesus. You have read about the life of Christ, beautifully and eloquently written, but the best reading of His life is his living biography written out in the lives of His people.
We should be the striking likeness of Him if we are what we confess. The world shouldn’t have to guess or assess us by the hour, saying, “Well, it seems somewhat likely they have been with Him.” Their exclamation should be that we have indeed “…been with Jesus. They mirror His teachings. They are like Him having caught the very idea of His holiness and it shows in the most routine aspects of their lives.”
