“Tell Eleazar son of Aaron, the priest, to remove the censers from the charred remains… Hammer the censers into sheets to overlay the altar, for they were presented before the Lord and have become holy. Let them be a sign to the Israelites.”
Numbers 16:37… 38, NIV
These censers were long golden rods for offering inscence before the LORD and were the personal property of the men in Korah’s revolt. The censers “became holy” after being presented to God.
This would be the only possession that would remain after the destruction of the men who owned them. The gold would be beaten down and set over the ark of the covenant as a reminder that God had exclusively chosen Moses and Aaron as His representatives.
All, including myself, have and will always try to take more than what they’ve been given.
God help us to be content by way of the Spirit’s work in us. Make us more like Jesus by whatever means necessary 🙏.
