Shrewd Wisdom and Hatred of Evil

“I, wisdom, share a home with shrewdness and have knowledge and discretion. To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭8:12-13‬, CSB‬‬

Here in verse 12, there is a direct connection with wisdom and being shrewd. I can’t get past this idea of delaying gratification and protecting what has come by costly experience.

Verse 13 addresses something which has been at times difficult to comprehend, the fear of the LORD. Understanding a biblical term can be difficult and it is necessary to look to the Bible for its explanation.

The “fear of the Lord” is to express deep reverence for God, but I believe “TO fear the LORD” is to hate evil.
